The 14.1-inch Extensa 4620 Acer laptop comes loaded with Windows XP Professional (sorry, Vista aficionados), 1GB of RAM, a 120GB hard drive, dual-layer DVD burner, 802.11a/b/g WiFi, gigabit Ethernet, a 56k modem, GMA 3100 graphics chipset and a six-cell Li-ion good for around two hours. The first of the two 4620 iterations (that'd be the 6294, break out the pencils!) sports an Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 CPU, while the 4620-4054 rocks a T2310. According to Acer, both of the Acer notebooks are available now throughout North America for $799 and $699, respectively. AMD dual-core technology enables you to work or play with multiple programs without impacting performance; AMD64 technology provides simultaneous support for 32-bit and 64-bit computing It has 2GB DDR2 SDRAM for multitasking power, which is most than what most PCs have. The multiformat DVD±RW/CD-RW drive with double-layer supports records up to 8.5GB of data or 4 hours of video using compatible media. The screen is 15.4" WXGA LCD widescreen display with CrystalBrite technology and 1280 x 800 resolution. Hard drive is also pretty good as it's a 160GB Serial ATA hard drive working at a speed of 5400 rpm. The Video Card provides more than just solid performance, ATI RADEON X1250 graphics with up to 896MB HyperMemory (total of local and shared system memory used by GPU); DirectX 9 support; S-video TV-out. There is a built-in Crystal Eye Web cam and microphone make it easy to chat with and send video mail to family and friends. The list of features doesn't end here though. This Acer notebook has a 5-in-1 media card reader supports Secure Digital, MultiMediaCard, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO and xD-Picture Card. Weighs 6.4 lbs. and measures just 1.7" thin for portable power; lithium-ion battery and AC adapter. Comes with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition operating system preinstalled; software package included with Acer GridVista, CyberLink PowerDVD, NTI CD-Maker and more. Bottom line is that this laptop provides the ideal combination of value and cost. It's hard to find a better machine on the market for that money.
